In consistency with our long term goal of doing our part to insure the island's pristine quality, the Residency program operates under a set of guidelines designed to be friendly to the environment that nurtures our creativity. PLASTICS: We discourage the daily use of any disposable plastics such as baggies, plastic wrap, and the like. Instead, we provide the house with an ample amount of washable plastic containers to be used by residents. Glass: Glass bottles and jars are not recyclable on the island at this time. Instead of adding to the landfill, we encourage cleaning the glasswear, and reserving for the summer crafts tour. These items can be reused in candle making and glass vases workshops. PAPER: We encourage all appropriate paper to be reserved for recycling by the summer tours paper making workshops. We also give special consideration to applicants who are educated in ecology and related fields, and want to contribute to our eco friendly initiatives. |
